The images in this book will bring back some great memories for
lifelong residents while showing newcomers how things have
changed through the years.
Remember the Harvey House Drive-In and Reuben's? Woolworth's in
the Harford Mall? Read's Drug Store when it was in the famous
Rodgers House in Havre de Grace? The Fountain Green Maternity
Hospital? They're all in this book.
The book showcases streetscapes, stores, restaurants, homes,
schools, and churches from Jarrettsville to Darlington and
Cardiff to Riverside. Some are all but forgotten, some have been
repurposed, and some have been magnificently restored.
A few sample images, shown right, are from Bel Air. The
book includes images from all over Harford County, including
the early movie theaters that stood in Aberdeen, Bel Air, and
Havre de Grace, the grand stone Archer home with farm animals
wandering outside the front door, the general store at Carsins
Run, and much more.
James E. Kropp is a professional photographer living in Harford
County. [Note: Jim has since moved near Allentown,
Pennsylvania.] He has a wonderful eye for detail. By framing today's
photos as closely as possible as the original views, Jim allows
the reader to see the full scope of changes time has brought to
the scene. Visit Jim's Web site
